Chap. 82.—An ACT to authorize the issuing of two new bonds to Mrs.
Phebe H. Builey.
Approved January 19, 1882.
Whereas two bearer coupon bonds of one thousand dollars
each, to-wit: bond number fifteen thousand two hundred and
thirty-three, issued in lieu of registered bond two thousand
seven hundred and ninety-two, and bond number fifteen
thousand two hundred and thirty-four, issued in lieu of regis-
tered bond two thousand seven hundred and ninety-eight.
lately held and owned by Mrs. Phebe H. Bailey, were, on the
twenty-ninth day of October, eighteen hundred and eighty,
so damaged by fire as to render them valueless to the holder,
and not fitted to be filed as vouchers in the treasurer’s office
of the state—
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
the duty of the second auditor and the treasurer, on the
application of said Phebe H. Bailey, to issue and deliver to
her two new coupon bonds of one thousand dollars each.
with coupons attached, from the first day of January, eigh-
teen. hundred and eighty-one.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 82.—An ACT to amend the third section of the charter of Poto-
mac, in the county of Prince William, so as to create said town 3
ceparate school district.
Approved February 9, 1882."
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the third section of an act incorporating the town of Poto-
mac, and approved March eighth, eighteen hundred and
eighty, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
‘3. The corporate limits of said town of Potomac is hereby
created and declared to be a separate and distinct road dis-
trict of Prince Willliam county, and no road tax shall be
levied on any property within said limits, except by the
council of Potomac, to be expended within said limits on the
streets and roads therein by the sergeant of the town, under
the direction and supervision of the council. For his services
as overseer of roads and streets, the sergeant shall be enti-
tled to the same compensation allowed by law to overseers of
roads under the general road law of Virginia. The council
shall have control of all streets and roads within the corpo-
rate limits of the town. It shall also be lawful for the town
of Potomac, in its corporate capacity, to organize a separate
school district within its corporate boundaries, with the same
privileges enjoyed by towns of five hundred, and less than
ive thousand inhabitants.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 82.—An ACT to authorize the supervisors of Montgomery
county to pay W. D. Vaughan for services rendered in holding the
court for the said county.
Approved April 21, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the supervisors of Montgomery county
to audit and pay to W. D. Vaughan, judge of the county
court of Floyd county, a sum, not exceeding fifty dollars, for
services rendered in holding a court in December, eighteen
hundred and eighty-one, for Montgomery county, during the
illness of the judge of said county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
