Chap. 81.—An ACT for the relief of Ella J. Jones, a person of un-
sound mind.
Approved April 21, 1882.
Whereas it has been represented to the general assembly
of Virginia, that Ella J. Jones, of Buckingham county, Vir-
ginia, a person of unsound mind, who has been heretofore,
and now is, an inmate of the Eastern lunatic asylum, at
Williamsburg, Virginia, is a wife and the mother of six
children, four of whom are minors; that the physical condi-
tion of her husband is such that he cannot support his family,
and that she has a small trust estate of one thousand dollars,
or less, which the circuit court has directed her committee to
invest in a homestead for her family; but that he is embar.
rassed by the prospect that a claim for board and maintenance
of said Ella J. Jones will be asserted against said fund by said
Kastern lunatic asylum; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section fifty-two of chapter eighty-two of the Code of eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-three, shall have no application tc
the estate of the said Ella J. Jones, and the said estate shal
be free and discharged of and from any and all liability as
well to the commonwealth as to said Eastern lunatic asylum.
for any expenses heretofore incurred or which may be here
after incurred by either, in the maintenance, removal 01
transportation of said Ella J. Jones, at, to or from said asy:
lum, or elsewhere.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
