Chap. 54.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Isle of
Wight county to borrow money and issue bonds therefor for the pur-

Whereas the board of supervisors of the county of Isle of
Wight and the county court of that county have decided it
ty be advisable and desirable to build a bridge across Pagan
creek, from the George W. Stringfield landing to the lands of
Mistress Lucy M. Spratley, a point above navigation; there-
fore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors be, and are hereby authorized and
empowered to borrow for the said county of Isle of Wight
a sum of money not to exceed three thousand dollars, by the
issue and sale of the bonds of the said county, as herein-
after provided, for the purpose of building said bridge.
2. The said bonds shall be registered, and shall be issued
in such denominations and bear such rate of interest, not ex-
ceeding six per centum per annum, as may be determined by
the said board of supervisors, said interest to be paid semi-
annually. One-third of the principal of said bonds shall be
made payable in one year from their date; another third of
the same shall be made payable in two years, and the remain-
ing third of the said principal shall be made payable in three
years from its date. The said bonds shall be signed by the
chairman of the board of supervisors and countersigned by
its clerk, and shall be sold or negotiated as may be deter-
mined by the said board of supervisors.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
