Chap. 142.—An ACT to incorporate the Lynchburg Lodge, number
eleven, Knights of Pythias, of Lynchburg, Virginia.
Approved February 15, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
William T. Crawford, E. Arthur Emerson, and homas A.
Green, and their successors and associates, be and they are
hereby constituted a body politic and corporate, by the name
and style of Lynchburg lodge, number eleven, Knights of
Pythias, and by that name shall have perpetual succession
and a common seal; may contract and be contracted with,
sue and be sued; may require, receive, hold, possess, and
enjoy, and may rent, sell, convey, invest, ‘and otherwise man-
age and dispose of, as to ‘them may seem most conducive to
the interest of said lodge, all lands, money, or other pro-
perty: real or personal, which may have been or which may
hereafter given to them or otherwise acquired for the use
of said lodge: provided, that a unanimous vote of the trus-
tees, herein above named for the time being, and their suc-
cessors, shall be required to authorize the sale or mortgage
of any "real estate belonging to said lodge, and the said trus-
tees and their successors shall hold office no longer than they
shall remain members of said lodge, or till their successors
shall enter upon the discharge of their duties as trustees.
2. The amount of land so held by said trustees for perma-
nent use shall not exceed two acres, and the sum of money
acquired and held as above shall not exceed fifteen thousand
dollars.
3. The said trustees above named, shall hold their offices
until their successors are duly elected under the provisions
of the by-laws adopted by said lodge, and shall be subject to
all other provisions of said by-laws.
4. The said board of trustees may exact bonds, with good
security, from such officers of said lodge, and in such penal-
ties as required by the by-laws of said lodge, with condition
for the faithful discharge of their duties.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage, and shall be
subject to amendment, modification, or repeal, at the pleasure
ot the general assembly.
