Chap. 35.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 12, chapter 21, Code
of 1873, as amended by an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact
section 12, chapter 21, Code of 1873,-in relation to contributing mem-
bers of volunteer companies of militia, approved March 27, 1876.

J. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section twelve, chapter twenty-one of the Code of eighteen
hundred and seventy-three, as amended and re-enacted by
an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact section twelve,
chapter twenty-one, Code of eighteen hundred and seventy-
three, in relation to contributing members of volunteer com-
panies of militia, approved March twenty-seven, eighteen
hundred and seventy-six, be amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows:
§ 12. In all cities and towns having a population over five
thousand inhabitants, each volunteer company which isarmed
and uniformed, may, besides its regular and active members,
enroll thirty contributing members, on payment in advance,
by each person desiring to become such contributing mem-
ber, of not less than twenty dollars per annum; which money
shall be paid into the company treasury, and applied to the
purcbase of uniforms for the rank and file of the active mem-
bers of the company, or to such purposes as may be author-
ized by the laws of such company.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
