Chap. 268.—An ACT to- commission officers of cadets of Bethel
acudemy, Fauquier county.

Approved March 14, 1878.

1. Bo it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the governor be and is authorized, in bis discretion, upon the
recommendation of the faculty, to issue to the officers in
charge or command of the corps or company of cadets of
Bethel academy, near Warrenton, in Fauquier county, com-
missions as brevet officers of engineers in the volunteer
service of the commonwealth; the said commissions to be
for one captain, one first licutenant, and one second lieuten-
ant: provided that the said commissions shall not entitle the
said officers to any pay or emoluments, or any command or
authority, except such as may be exercised over the cadets
of the said institution by direction of the faculty.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
