Chap. 64.—An ACT to authorize the trustees of the Methodist church,
south, of Sydney, tosel! and purchase property and to borrow money.
Approved February 6, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
J. Thompson Brown, John L. Bates, R. A. Shepherd, P. B.
Barnes, J. C. Harvy, Mathew Mayo, Philip M. Hatcher,
George R. Conway and J. R. Gill, trustees for the Main-street
methodist church, south, of Sydney, and their successors, are
hereby authorized to sell any property and real estate here-
tofore conveyed to, given to or purchased by themselves or
their predecessors, or which may hereafter be conveyed to
them or their successors as trustees for said church, and to
re-invest the proceeds of ruch sale in other property or
estate, and such property shall be held upon the same trusts
and for the same uses as the property sold was held upon.
2. Said trustees or their successors shall have power to bor-
row money and execute deeds of trust on any property held
by them in trust to secure the same, at a rate of interest not
exceeding eight per centum per annum.
3. They shall have the right, upon application to the court
of chancery of the city of Richmond, to change the name
and style of their trust to that of any other methodist church
south, bnt the trust itself sball not be altered.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
