Chap. 43.—An ACT to authorize the trustees of the Rod of Sholem
congregation of the city of Petersburg to borrow money.
Approved January 26, 1877.
Whereas it is represented to the general assembly that the
Hebrew congregation, Rod of Sholem, of the city of Peters-
burg, have incurred a debt in the erection of a house of pub-
lic worship, and for the purpose of securing the payment
thereof is desirous of executing a deed of trust upon the whole
property belonging to said congregation; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the trustees of the Rod of Sholem con-
gregation of the city of Petersburg to borrow such sum of
money as may be necessary to pay off the debt of the said
congregation, and to execute and deliver a trust deed upon
the whole or any part of the property now held by them in
trust for the said congregation, to secure the payment of the
money so borrowed: provided, however, that the said trus-
tees shall not act under the provisions of this act until they
shall have been directed so to do by the said congregation
by a vote in which two-thirds of the members present shall
vote in the affirmative.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
