Whereas it appears to the satisfaction of the general as-
sembly, that by a mistake of the assessor, the farm of James
A. Lyle, of Rockbridge county, containing four hundred and
fifty-nine acres, entered on the land-books of said county in
the name of John Moffett’s heirs, was entered upon said land-
books in eighteen hundred and seventy-five, at a valuation
greatly in excess of the true valué thereof, and that without.
default of said Lyle, this mistake was not discovered until it
was too late to correct the same, under the provisions of the
existing law; therefore, ,

itshall be lawful for the county court of Rockbridge, upon
satisfactory proof that said assessment of said land is erro-
neous, to correct the same, and to take such action, and enter
such order in the premises, and with the same effect, and
force and virtue, as though the application for the correction
of said assessment had been made within the time limited
therefor by chapter three hundred and eighteen of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Virginia, enacted at the session
of eighteen hundred and seventy-four and eighteen hundred
and seventy-five, approved March thirty-one, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-five; and the proceedings had in the pre-
mises shall conform to the provisions of said chapter: provided
that the jurisdiction hereby conferred upon said court shall
not be exercised unless said James A. Lyle shall apply to
said court to correct said assessment within three months
from the passage of this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
