Chap. 147.—An ACT to authorize the Eastern Shore steamboat com-
pany to purchase and hold land in the county of Accomack, and to
erect a wharf on the same.
Approved March 13, 1877.
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the Eastern Shore steamboat company, a foreign corpora-
tion, chartered by another state, be, and it is hereby author-
ized and empowered to purchase and hold a fee simple title
to land in the state of Virginia, in the county of Accomack,
on Guilford creek: provided that the quantity of land so
held shall not exceed ten acres.
2. The said Eastern Shore steamboat company shall have
the right, and they are hereby authorized and empowered,
to erect a wharf on said land below low-water mark, or if
such wharf has already been erected, such erection is hereby
declared legal; and the said corporation shall have the right
to charge and recover such fees as a compensation for the
use of said wharf as may have been agreed upon between
the parties, or as are usual: provided that such wharf shall
not obstruct or impede the navigation of said creek: and
provided, also, that this section shall at all times be under
the control of the general assembly, and may be amended or
repealed as they may deem proper.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
