Chap. 112.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections 1 and 7 of an act
entitled an act to authorize the formation of the James river and
New river railroad company, approved February 29, 1875.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly; That sections
one and seven of an act entitled an act to authorize the
formation of the James river and New river railroad com-
pany, approved February twenty-nine, eighteen hundred and
seventy-five, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:
§ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That it shall be lawful for the following-named persons,
namely: James W. Marshall, Andrew McCartney, J. A. J.
Lee, James P. Crist, Spotswood Hawkins, M. P. Farrier, P.
D. Grove, E. B. Wagoner, M. P. Spessard, Floyd Givens, G. W.
Hutchinson, J.J. Allen, William R. Beale, John W. Johnston,
Doctor A. Logan, Charles H. Payne, J. S. Wilson, Lewis
Linkevhoker, Martin McFerrin, Samuel E. Lybrook, Joseph
H. Hoge, D. C. Moorman, Jacob Peters, James M. Spiller,
James Wallace, J. Montgomery Thomas, Charles Martin,
Giles Henderson, John T. Cowan, William E. Eggleston, P.
W. Strother, James O’Kicffe, Hiram T. Jones, Meadow St.
Clair, Robert Kirkwood, Thomas Graham, and G. C. Wart-
ton, as commissioners, any five of whom acting, to proceed
under the general law, to effect the organization of an in-
corporated company, to be known and entitled The James
River and New River Railroad Company, which said com-
pany, upon the farmation thereof, in the manner herein pro-
vided, shall be authorized to construct, maintain, and operate
a railroad from some point on the James river, at or near the
mouth of Craig’s creek, or at or near Buchanan, in the county
of Botetourt, by the most practicable route through the county
of Craig to some suitable point of connection with the New
river railroad.
§7. The work on this road shall be commenced within two
years and completed within six years from the.passage of
this act.
