Chap. 35.—An ACT to Prevent Obstructing with Timber or Render-
ing Foul the Water Courses of this State.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That if any per- wisaemean
son shall, knowingly and wilfully, fell timber into any of the damsge or
rivers or creeks in this state, or shall cast any waste wood in rivers or
into the same, which shall damage or destroy any public or Srae7
private bridge, boat, or injure any other property by drifting ber
against such property, he shall be liable for the damages party tisble
caused thereby, and shall also be deemed guilty of a misde- damages
meanor, and upon conviction thereof, he shall be fined not Fine impos
Jess than ten dollars, nor more than one hundred dollars.
2. Any person who shall, knowingly and wilfully, cast any Casting des

tidewater, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and Soe water
