Chap. 276.—An ACT to authorize the Treasurer of Nansemond County
to invest, by order of the School Trustees of the Town of Suffolk, the
District School Tax of the Town. of Suffolk.
Approved April 29, 1874.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the treasurer of the county of Nansemond be and he is hereby
authorized and directed, when so required by the school trus-
tees of the town of Suffolk, in said county, to invest the mo-
ney which is now in his hands, or that may, from time to
time, come into his hands from the district school tax for
said town of Suffolk, or from interest on bonds hereinafter
mentioned, in six per centum bonds of the state of Virginia,
until a sufficient amount shall have accrued to build a suita-
ble schoolhouse or houses for and in the said town.
2. Whenever a sufficient amount, in the opinion of the
school trustees of said town, shall have accumulated from
the investment as authorized in the preceding section, the
treasurer shall, upon the order of the said trustees, dispose
of the bonds as they may direct, and upon their order dis-
burse the same in the erection of a suitable schoolhouse or
houses as they may determine.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
