Chap. 265.—An ACT to provide for payin to Baring Brothers and
Company, the amounts advanced by them for the State.
Approved April 28, 1874.
Whereas, it appears that Baring Brothers and Company,
agents for the state of Virginia, for the payment of the in-
terest due upon the sterling debt of the state in London, ad-
vanced the sum of one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five
pounds, for the payment of interest due upon said debt, July
first, eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, and a like amount on
the first of January, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, and
first of July, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, in anticipa-
tion of the receipt thereof; and whereas, the said amounts
have not been repaid to the said Baring Brothers and Com-
pavy: Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
the duty of the auditor of public accounts to pay into the
public treasury, subject to the warrant of the second auditor,
so much of the public revenue as the second auditor may
certify to be necessary to pay the said Baring Brothers and
Company the amount advanced by them, with interest
thereon, in discharge of the interest paid by them upon the
sterling bonds due from the state.
