Chap. 253.—An ACT to Incorporate the town of Smithville, in the
County of Charlotte.
Approved April 27, 1874.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the town »
dcznown as Marysville, in the county of Charlotte, as the same °
has heretofore been laid off into lots, streets, and alleys, shall 8
be and the same is hereby made a town corporate, by the
name of the town of Smithville, and by that name shall have ¢
and exercise all the rights, powers, and privileges, and shall ®
be subject to all the duties, liabilities, and restrictions now
imposed by law for the government of towns of less than five
thousand inhabitants, or by any laws which may hereafter
‘be enacted for the government of said towns.
2. The.boundaries of said town shall be embraced within
the limits of one mile each way from the courthouse building, *
dn said town, extending cast, west, north and south, making
an area of two miles square. That Thomas M. Tucker be x
and is hereby appointed mayor of said town; that John W. $
Eggleston, Isaac R. Watkins, A. J.. Terry, A. A. Wilbon, F.
Commencement 3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
