Chap. 162._-An ACT to Provide for a new Registration in Alexandria
City and County.
Approved April 9, 1874.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
each duly qualified registrar for the city and county of Alex-
andria, shall, on the first Tuesday in May, eighteen hundred
and seventy-four, proceed to register, according to the gen-
eral registration laws of the state, the names of all the quali-
fied voters within the ward or township of said city or county,
for which he was appointed, who, according to law, are enti-
tled to registration therein ; and he shall complete such regis-
tration within seven days thereafter.
2. In making such registration, the said registrars shall,
in every particular, be guided and controlled by the general
registration laws of the state; and the registration thus made
shall have the same force, virtue and effect as though the
same had been made under the general registration laws of
the state.
3. In all other respects, except as herein provided, the du-
ties of the registrars for the city and county of Alexandria,
shall be the same as prescribed in the general registration
laws of the state.
4, All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with the provi-
sions of this act are hereby repealed.
5. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
