Chap. 153.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 27, Chapter 16,
Code of Virginia (edition of 1878), so as to provide Necessary Clerical
Assistance in office of the Executive.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That c
ction twenty-seven of chapter sixteen of the Code of Vir- >.
inia (edition of eighteen hundred and seventy-three), ben
mended and re-enacted so as to read as follows: .
“§ 27. The governor is hereby authorized to employ such a
erical assistance in his office, as he may deem necessary,
om time to time, the expense whereof shall be payable o
onthly, on the certificate of the governor: provided, that E
ot more than two thousand dollars shall be expended, in *
ny one year, under this section; and provided further, that 4
o aid-de-camp of the governor shall be allowed pay, except 3
uring any period of invasion of, or insurrection within the ix
ommon wealth.” *
2. This act shall be in force from its passage. c
