ganized in the state of Louisiana, has been re-organized in
the city of Richmond, and is under the control and manage-
ment of gentlemen of high character and undoubted patriot-
ism in this and the other, southern states, whose object, as
officially declared, is the collection, classification, preserva-
tion and final publication of all the documents and facts
bearing upon the eventful history of the late war, and more-
over, that the association is not purely sectional, nor of a
partisan character; therefore,
1. Resolved by the general assembly, That the superin-
tendent of public buildings, with the approval of the governor,
be authorized to furnish such accommodation in the capitol, for
the archives of the society, as may be compatible with the
proper custody of the records of the commonwealth.
