An Act for the relief of Emory Lee Shiffett.

Whereas, Emory Lee Shifflett had suffered the loss of one arm prior
to his incarceration in the penal system of Virginia; and
Whereas, Emory Lee Shifflett, while operating a piece of machinery
to which he had been assigned at the State Farm for Men in 1967, slipped
and fell into the machine which amputated part of four fingers on his
remaining hand; and
Whereas, as a result of such accident, Emory Lee Shifflett has been
rendered practically incapable of self-support; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. There is hereby appropriated from the general fund of the State
treasury the sum of three thousand five hundred dollars to be paid by the
State Treasurer on warrant of the Comptroller issued upon vouchers
signed by the Director of the Department of Welfare and Institutions,
upon execution by Emory Lee Shifflett of a release of all claims he may
have against the Commonwealth or any employers thereof in connection
with, or arising out of, the aforesaid incident.
