CHAPTER 730
An Act to amend and reenact § 46.1-289, of the Code of Virginia, relating
to certain rear view mirrors required for motor vehicles operated
upon the highways of the State.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46.1-289 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
follows:
§ 46.1-289. (a) No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon a high-
way of this State which is not equipped with a mirror so located as to
reflect to the operator a view of the highway for a distance of not less
than two hundred feet to the rear of such vehicle. . .
(b) No motor vehicle registered in this State designed and licensed
primarily for passenger vehicular transportation on the public highways
and manufactured for the year nineteen hundred sixty-nine or for sub-
sequent years shall be operated on the highways of this State unless
equipped with at least one outside and at least one inside rear view mirror
meeting the requirements of subsection (a) hereof.
