An Act to amend and reenact § 22-127, as amended, of the Code of
Virginia, relating to cash appropriations for public schools.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 22-127, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 22-127. The governing body of any county, city, or town if the
town be a separate school district, may make on the same periodic
basis as it makes appropriations to all other departments and agencies of
the county, city or town * in addition to or in lieu of any levy authorized
under the provisions of § 22-126, from the funds derived from the general
county, city, or town levy and from any other funds available, * for opera-
tion, * capital outlay and/or debt service in the public schools *. Notwith-
standing any other provisions of law, the amount appropriated by the gov-
erning body for public schools shall relate to its total only or to such major
classifications as may be prescribed by the State Board of Education, and
such funds shall be expended on order of the school board in accordance
with said classifications.
