CHAPTER 588

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
$8.1-847.1 so as to guarantee full protection and recompense for
insured risks under sickness and accident msurance contracts provid-
ng for reimbursement of sickness and bodily injury claims.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
88.1-347.1, as follows:

§ 38.1-847.1. Notwithstanding any provision of any policy of insur-
ance issued after the effective date of this section, when such policy pro-
vides for reimbursement for any service which may be legally performed
by a person licensed in this State for the practice of chiropractic, reim-
bursement under such policy shall not be denied because such service is
rendered by a person so licensed; provided, that the provisions of this
section shall not apply to contracts issued by Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
