An Act for the relief of Evelyn V. Atkinson.

Whereas, Evelyn V. Atkinson, residing at 2001-C Atlee Road, Me-
chanicsville, Virginia was, on September twenty-one, nineteen hundred
sixty-seven, set upon and attacked brutally by one Roger Bigsby, Jr., an
sean a State convict road force who had then escaped and was at

Whereas, Evelyn V. Atkinson, as a result of such attack, suffered
painful and extensive contusions and abrasions to her body, and much
fear and mental distress, and incurred various expenses for treatment of
the injuries sustained ; and
Whereas, she is presently unemployed and responsible for the support
of a small child and there is no way in which she can recover damages
for this injury; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. There is hereby appropriated from the General Fund of the State
treasury the sum of one thousand dollars, to be paid to Evelyn V. Atkinson
for reimbursement of her medical expenses and for pain, suffering and
mental distress suffered at the hands of a convict escaped from the State

convict road force. Such payment shall be made by the State Treasurer
on warrant of the Comptroller as provided by law and shall be payable
upon the execution of a release by Evelyn V. Atkinson of any and all
claims which she may have against the Commonwealth, its agents and
employees, arising out of such event.
