CHAPTER 539

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
2.1-804.1, relating to certain bonds of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
2.1-304.1, as follows:

§ 2.1-304.1. The Treasury Board is authorized and directed to in-
spect the following bonds of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company and
if found genuine and having the endorsement of the Commonwealth
thereon, to fund the same as old unfunded obligations of the Common-
wealth under the provisions of Chapter 325 of the Acts of Assembly of
1891-1892, the act entitled an act to provide for the settlement of the public
debt to Virginia, approved February twentieth, eighteen hundred ninety-
two, fv bonds being described as follows,
o-wit:

Bonds of the said Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, guaranteed
by the Commonwealth, number eight, of one thousand ($1,000.00) dol-
lars, issued November ‘thirteenth, eighteen hundred forty-seven, payable
thirty-five years after date, with interest thereon at six per centum, evi-
denced by coupons attached; and numbers nine hundred thirty-eight, nine
hundred thirty-nine, nine hundred forty-five and nine hundred forty-
seven, of one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars each, issued June first, eighteen
hundred forty-nine, with six per centum interest thereon, evidenced by
coupons attached; said coupons being for semiannual interest and pay-
able on the first day of January and first day of July of each year; the
first of said coupons attached to bond eight being due July first, eighteen
hundred sixty-six; the first of said coupons attached to each of bonds nine
hundred thirty-eight and nine hundred thirty-nine, being due July first,
eighteen hundred sixty-six and the first of said coupons attached to bond
numbers nine hundred forty-five and nine hundred forty-seven, being
due January first, eighteen hundred sixty-five.

2 a acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act are hereby re-
pealed.
