CHAPTER 518
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
18.1-125.1 to provide that stealing from or tampering with parking
meters and certain other devices designed to receive money shall be a
misdemeanor and on second offense a felony and to prescribe punish-
ment therefor.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a new section num-
bered 18.1-125.1 as follows:
§ 18.1-125.1. Any person who, enters, forces or attempts to force
an entrance into, tampers with, or inserts any part of an instrument
into any parking meter, vending ‘machine, pay telephone, money changing
machine, or any other device designed to receive money, with intent to steal
therefrom, shall for the first conviction thereof be guilty of a misdemeanor
and for any subsequent conviction of a violation thereof shall be guilty
of a felony and shall be punished by confinement in the penitentiary
or on the State Convict Road Force not more than three years or confine-
ment in jail up to twelve months or by a fine not exceeding one thousand
ollars.
