CHAPTER 351

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
22-58.1, 80 as to provide for the destruction of certain records of local
school boards under certain conditions, certain rules and regulations
may be adopted by State Board of Education. H O17)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
22-53.1, as follows:

§ 22-53.1. The State Board of Education may request, in conformity
with §§ 42-59 and 42-59.1 of the Code relating to State agencies, the
destruction of financial records of local school boards, excluding books of
original entry and general ledger accounts, under schedules submitted to
the State Library, providing that the consent of the State Auditor of Public
Accounts is secured.

The State Board of Education is further authorized to promulgate
rules and regulations governing the retention of pupil personnel records
in public schools.
